At EDC, we know that learning from someone else who’s successfully navigated the start-up ocean is an invaluable asset, which is why we have created a thriving mentorship program we call VentureWave Mentoring.
VentureWave Mentoring matches entrepreneurs with seasoned professionals from diverse industries who have actively volunteered to help startups navigate opportunity. In fact, our mentors are often as passionate about seeing our start-ups succeed as the entrepreneurs themselves.
For Entrepreneurs
Learning to Navigate
Some of the areas that our entrepreneurs receive mentorship in include:
- Legal and accounting matters
- Marketing and business development
- New product commercialization
- Strategic alliances and channel partner development
- Preparing for capital raises
- Human relations and people development
- Business strategy development and implementation
As a mentee, you will get to work one-on-one with one or more of South Florida’s most seasoned business leaders, scholars and industry experts. The practical advice they will offer you is invaluable—but more importantly, you’ll be building a relationship that will last a lifetime.
For Mentors
Helping Startups Set Sail
EDC mentors provide approximately 10-15 hours of free service over a 60-90 day period. Many of our mentors have even gone on to enter into formal partnerships with the companies they support after completing the duration of their mentorships. This is an opportunity for you not only to contribute to the common good by imparting your expertise and know-how to the next generation of business leaders, but also to play a direct role in helping solidify the South Florida economic ecosystem.
