Enterprise Development Corp. (EDC), a nonprofit that runs incubators and support programs for entrepreneurs, is establishing a new headquarters at Pipeline Brickell in Miami.
EDC was formerly headquartered at the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. The company still has a presence in Boca Raton, along with two recently opened incubator locations in Broward County.
The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation provided $175,000 to EDC as part of the move. EDC will also expand its services to startup companies in Miami. It has planned to contribute to the growth of more than 40 Miami startups in the next 12 months.
EDC also plans to host six events—ranging from pitch sessions to discussions with business leaders—aimed at pooling ideas and creating connections between Miami entrepreneurs.
Founded in 1994, Enterprise Development Corp. says it has assisted more than 300 companies annually.
Rob Strandberg, EDC president, said the move reflects “Miami’s rise as an emerging center for business innovation.”
Matt Haggman, Knight Foundation program director for Miami, said the new location will work closely with “Miami’s growing community of talented entrepreneurs.”
