EDC was founded in 1994 by the state of Florida as a part of a group of six nonprofit organizations established to create new businesses that generate high skill, high wage jobs by linking industry, academia and investment in support of Florida’s science and technology sector.
The state abandoned this program in 1999 and EDC is the only remaining organization of its kind.
EDC now assists more than 300 companies every year.
EDC’s total estimated economic impact since inception is more than $500 million.
EDC uses key initiatives such as our incubator spaces and educational programs, as well as resources like our funding networks, to give companies the tools they need in order to succeed.
